Marketing Partners Although most that trek to the African continent for a high altitude experiecne focus their attention upon Tanzania for Mount Kilimanjaro or Kenya for Mount Kenya, true alpinist and mountaineers respect The Rwenzori Mountains of Uganda to be the most challenging. Known for their extreme weather, The SOLIO Mount Stanley Expedition's journey into the fabled 'Mountains of the Moon' will face some of the most drastic climatic conditions in Africa. From tropical temperatures ranging 30 degrees Celcius down to 20 below Celcius, from thigh deep mud in the bogs to melting glaciers that expose sheer rock on the peaks, indeed the expeditionary team will be challenged by the elements. It will take our team approximately twenty-one days to trek into the Rwenzoris and then down through the bush along the border line between Uganda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo to reach the southern shores of Lake Albert. Support from the best outdoor equipment providers on the planet will be essential. The bottom line means that staying dry and warm at all times in a malarial zone is imperative for the teams survival and to insure the expeditions success. That is why The SOLIO Mount Stanley Expedition will only be working with the industry leaders in their respective fields. In the spirit of the great European explorers from Speke to Burton to Stanley to Livingstone to Baker, expedition leader Julian Monroe Fisher F.R.G.S. and his team will set out during the Summer of 2008 like very few have to date in the 21st century. And just as the successes of those 19th century explorers depended, so will Fisher and his team depend upon the ultimate support of the indeginous Ugandans. Without the support of people like the Uganda Wildlife Authority, the Rwenzori Mountaineering Services, the Abanya Rwenzori Mountaineering Association, Wildplaces Africa and our product providers, our dreams and aspirations as explorers could never be realized. If you too would like to support The SOLIO Mount Stanley Expedition, we ask that you first start by supporting our marketing partners. It should be noted that many of the products that are being provided for our expedition will be in the end donated to the respective in-country Ugandan organizations that have made this expedition possible.
